Perk Hill Coffee HouseLocation: Park Hill (22nd and Kearney)

Overview: I 'discovered' Perk Hill recently, and I have since become a frequent customer. This has the best "neighborhood feel" of any coffee shop I have seen here in Denver. The owner's name is Darren, and he and his staff make the patrons feel welcome. This spot is very "kid friendly" and at any given time, there tend to at least a few little tikes running around.

"Perks": Free WiFi, Excellent coffee, Great Liks Ice Cream! Udi's sandwiches & burritos. Fun atmosphere, very friendly and courteous staff, Outdoor Patio, Great Coffee!

Overall Comments: The residents of Park Hill and surrounding neighborhoods (like mine) are lucky to have an establishment like "Perk Hill" serving the neighborhood. This is the kind of "community" feel that every neighborhood should have.
Whether you are a mobile business person like myself, or someone who wants to get out with the kids, Perk Hill is a great destination. They have a nice patio, toys for the kids to play with, games for the kids at heart, and even have a drop down screen where they will show movies out of their extensive movie library (they also rent movies)!

Park hill is lucky to have this indendent shop. Great latte. Support your local shop.
I just visited Perk Hill on this past Monday (24April) and ordered what turned out to be an incredibly delicious capucinno with a slice of fresh apple crub cake.
Great job, Perk Hill! Nice ambiance, too: cool jazz in the background, with an incredible collection of dust jackets on hte wall from albums of many (if not all) of the jazz greats that I can think of. Makes you wanna hang out and
in the neighborhood "salon" type ambiance. Very cool.
This place pulls the best shots of espresso I've ever had in Denver. I've had espresso from every (yes, every) coffeeshop on this website, and while some others do quite well, nobody can match the shots at the Perk. Period.
Glad to hear there's a nice place in Park Hill. Adagio and Finster's were good morning coffee spots, but I used to have to go miles to Pablo's or St. Mark's to enjoy evening/night coffee when I lived in lovely Park Hill.
Perk Hill gets my vote as a kid friendly, comfortable coffee shop. It also offers ice cream, sandwiches and other treats. I take my 3 kids there almost every week after gymnastics class.
Liked the coffee, but the service a few months ago was initially so neglectful, then the barista was so rude, that I have no plans to return. Adagio's is a better Park Hill neighborhood coffee shop with a fresh bakery.
That's interesting, I've had exactly the opposite experience from the poster above.
Perk Hill has always been friendly with consistently great coffee - I go there very frequently.
Adagio, however, has gross coffee and has consistently rude and "inconvenienced" counter help. I don't go there, ever.
I agree with AJ... Adagio has horrible coffee. They had Cafe Cartago Coffee at one time. Now I go across the street to Spinelli's Market and get CC's Velvet Roast. Drink it all day and it doesn't upset my stomach. Smell the Jamaican-me-nuts,(bet you can't resist), it is so smooth but not full of the sugar & syrup.
Perk Hill serves up a near-perfect latte. After sampling several local and national establishments in the Denver area and suffering through weak espresso drinks, it was wonderful to find this place. I never need to ask for extra shots as I do at most places. It may also be the most comfortable neighborhood coffee shop in Denver. Other downtown neighborhoods should be jealous.
I love Perk Hill Coffee -- especially the "Danger Monkey" and "Two Stroke Smoke" roasts they offer. On my first trip there, Janet (sp? -- pronouced Jan-ey) was very friendly and helpful. My review of their wonderful cinnamon rolls can be read on my own blog (imitationofmink.com).
The espresso drinks may be good at Perk Hill, but I'm not bothering to find out after my first experience there. I bought a cup of coffee and it was horrible - luke warm and old. The seating area was dirty too. In order to compete with Starbucks you must be able to produce a hot drinkable product. I walked out of Perk Hill and tossed the coffee in the trash.
Perk Hill is one of the many reasons I am proud and honored to live in Park Hill. It adds to our great sense of community--like it spozed to be!
I wish they could turn the movie screen on from the outside so you could sit outside in the lovely summer nights and watch the movie.
