I finally had a chance to check out Fluid Coffee Bar in Denver (Formerly Bohemian Bean), and it's a great coffee house to do some work in or just hang out!
Fluid Coffee Bar has a high urban look with a funky coffee house feel that is both energizing and relaxing. With comfortable sofas & chairs, a fireplace, plants, stained concrete floors, and aluminum/brushed steel accents all over the place, they have captured a great feel here. One thing I'm impressed with is the fact they have taken a relatively 'new' space and given it an eclectic & fun feel (as contrasted with a truly old 'plaster coming off the walls' place like Monkey Bean)
Perks: There are laptop benches set up, as well as terminals for those who don't have a laptop with them. Ethernet ports are available, or you can jump onto the free WiFi. With some outdoor seating, and plenty of space indoors, Fluid Coffee Bar has what it takes to stick around! Check em out!
Location: 501 E 19th Ave, Denver, CO (Corner of 19th and Pennsylvania)

Now that I work a couple minutes away, I am sure I'll be back here. Other suggestions for Denver Coffee Houses?

I dropped into Fluid a couple weeks ago while they were having a reception for some brand new coffee technology they were unveiling. They explained it's a single cup brewing machine that is supposed to be the next big thing - I think it was called the Clover or something like that. I guess the point is that every single individual cup is freshly ground and brewed for the customer while they wait, but it's also superfast. Anyway, it was a pretty cool looking machine. They were brewing samples off the machine for free, and the coffee tasted pretty awesome. Worth checking out if you're into cool technology. I guess Fluid is the first ones in Denver to have it. The guys who provide Fluid's coffee were there too - apparently they have some exclusive deal to sell these machines for now. Pretty cool.
I have tried this shop twice; 1st time I had a decent blended iced drink (my staple, and IMHO, an acid-test of versatility and skill). Second time I got some hostile blonde having a BAD day lecture me on how espresso would ruin the drink --I wasn't able to really fathom what the hell she was talking about. Maybe she thought it would melt the ice??.
I sort of mused to her 'lots of shops offer espresso in their blended ice drinks'; she scowled, pursed her lips and kind of threw together something resembling a blended iced mocha, charged me $5. I never went back.....
The coffee they serve is Cafe Novo, roasted right here in Denver... Novo is the only reason I go there (and only if I don't have it at home to brew). Generally, the drinks are overpriced, they don't give a discount for having your own cup, the employees seem to have more bad days than good (maybe the new owner?), and too many stuck-up yuppies fill the comfy couches for my taste (probably cuz the Post apts the Fluid sits in). All in all, if NOVO is served there, I'll visit and give it a chance. However, I will only visit Fluid if I am DESPARATE for Novo.
Coffee from Novo is mostly average, mostly hype if anything. Scooter joes uses a different local roaster, i think Kaladi Bros., that I find much more pleasing to the taste buds.
I dropped in because I heard they serve NoVo and I like to support local. The guy working there didn't seem to care that I was waiting for anyone to come and take my order. Finally, after about 4 minutes of waiting, he walked over from the couch that he was sitting on, still on his cell phone. He told his "bro" on the phone to hold on, and looked at me and said "sup." (complete with head nod, still holding the cell phone next to his ear.)
I turned around and left. I won't go back again, but at least I won't be an inconvenience to the staff there.
This coffee shop allows dogs inside! Great, but isn't that against health ordinances? How about keeping the mutts outside ... not everyone likes dogs and honestly, they aren't clean.
u sound like a dirty hooker. get back out on colfax and do your beat
Very old comments regarding this coffee bar. They have come a very long way since Jeff took over. They are very passionate about what they do and it shows through in the way they treat their customers. A definite place to check out and take a few minutes to speak with the staff. The owner is very engaged in the business and is constantly finding new ways to meet his customers needs.
I love Fluid. The coffee's great. The staff is friendly and there's power outlets, free wifi, LAN 10/100 plugin for those with laptops that do not have wireless and a printer. I should probably pay rent.
