It's a Grind claims on its website to be the "fastest growing coffee franchise in the US". I'm in Aurora today and decided to stop by, as I used to live near here when they first opened. They have a great selection of coffees, a nice atmosphere with stained concrete floors, large prints on the wall of famous blues artists, a number of wingback chairs along with the tables & chairs.

While It's a Grind is certainly not your "one of a kind local coffee shop", it has a achieved a comfortable atmosphere and seems to have a good business model. The only franchise I have been to that I believe has managed to truly get the local coffee house feel while being a franchise is in Madison: Espresso Royalle.
While I have a bias toward the mom and pop shops, I do certainly see the value of franchising, and It's A Grind looks to offer their franchisees a lot of excellent resources & support.

DenverCoffeeBlogger, di I have your permission to use your website in a presentation in class as part of a presentation? It is right up the alley I need for a presentation on coffee and popular culture. If you want tell me on my blog, http://theamazingshrinkingman.blogspot.com. Thanks in advance I hope!
No Prob! I'd be interested in seeing what you come up with if you write a paper on that topic.
Thanks much! I'll let you know!
I bought beans here once for my espresso machine. The beans are stored (or were stored) in open-air drawers. And frankly, the espresso out of my machine, and at the shop, tasted stale.
With better care for their bean, I might consider going in again. As it is, I won't be going back. I probably had the 'bottom of the drawer' and who knows how old those are if the drawer isn't completely emptied between each fill? They sure tasted OLD and stale.
It's a Grind is a good franchise. Recently I've written an article about coffee franchises. Maybe you will find information that will be of interest to you.

Yeah, I'm sure that this franchise is a great franchise opportunity. I advice everybody starting a franchise.
