There Coffee Bar & Lounge

there Coffee Bar & Lounge
1526 E Colfax Ave (formerly "Oh my Goddess")
See it on the BUZZ Coffee Map

Website: http://www.theredenver.com/

With the brightly painted exterior, I couldnt' help but notice there had replaced "Oh My Goddess." I was not a big fan of OMG, and am glad to see that the new owners of there have done a great job with the space.

It is much more inviting and energetic than OMG was, has a nice atmosphere with bright artwork adorning all of the walls (much of which is done by Jody B, one of the owners). They also have a nice meeting space that groups can meet in.

From the website: "there is Denver's newest and hottest coffee bar and lounge. Located on Colfax and Franklin, there provides a warm, friendly yet eclectic oasis for the true java lover.

there is lesbian owned and operated and offers the finest Italian coffee and products in Denver. there is where coffee meets community. Need a java jolt for the ride home after a late night? there is open late all weekend till 2pm Sunday. Come on in and savor the flavor. Are we there yet? "

Those two owners are total babes.
The coffee rules !!! Best in the city. This neighborhood coffee shop brings in every walk of life,
Gay, Straight, Transgender,Crossdresser and total street people.

I feel so safe in this place. The owners are so wonderful. They have great skin and nice "tushies". I hope this place is around forever.
May this be the place that all gays and lesbians can get married at. The coffee is a must.

coffee is awful and this place is full of drama! Is this a business or a high school hang out?

From what I experienced with my first visit to tHERe is that this is a nice place to lay back and relax. Jodi B is a charismatic woman and makes the newcomer feel welcome. It’s a little snug to get around the main level bar, but the upstairs area offers a nice place to kick back. I didn’t see the lower level, but understand it offers another area stretch your perspective. Definitely give this place a visit – it’s a nice alternative to the queer hangouts of old.

I tried tHERe a few times - having lived in a few great cities (e.g. Boston) I was hoping for a great nearby queer coffee shop. I was extremely disappointed with the clique-like culture and the aloof/abrupt service. I was a barista - it's sometimes helpful to make EYE contact with the customer.
I won't go tHERe again.

the atmosphere is pretty cool and the coffee isn't bad, but i felt rediculously unwelcome because i'm under 21.

there should make more of an effort to reach out to the younger generation of denver dykes that'll be running the place someday.

Would be a great atmosphere except for all the big screen tvs that are always blaring. Splash, Uncle Buck, 16 Candles... It's like the lesbian take on a bad 1980s sports bar. How bout just some good tunes?

tHERe has been a welcoming place to return to after a seven year hiatus. I meet a new beautiful BABE on each of my weekly stops for coffee. Thanx Jody B. for the warm friendly "what can I get ya"
tHERe is a fun/playful place to meet/discover friends.

I visited tHERe being new in town. I didn't feel very welcome...the place is tiny! Average service at best...don't recommend it.

What about the COFFEE? Would a non-lesbian woman feel comfortable walking in here for a cup of joe? Or is it just a pick-up joint?

anyone is welcome at "there".
and you should just shut your very fat face !

Anonymous said...

Well that certainly sounds welcoming

Anonymous said...

why yes it does. WELCOME TO THERE !

Such roller-coaster comments made me want to leave my own...I have only been to tHERe once, and it wasn't for coffee, but everyone was friendly and the service was great.

CAN YOU SAY DRAMA? I have only lived in Denver for a short time. However, as a lesbian and coffee lover I had hoped that THERE would offer a great cup of coffee with a safe and welcoming atmosphere. After visiting THERE numerous times I was extremely disappointed. IS Jody B be bi polar? There have been days when I’ve been in there that she's really friendly and then there are days that if you are not in her "circle" she doesn't know you! I'm pretty sure that she's been out of high school for sometime!!
What happened to getting to know your customers?
I've seen her staff fist hand ask people to leave her business for not being gay, bi or transgender. This is not only extremely unprofessional but also embarrassing for me as a member of the gay community that thrives for equality. To make matters worse her coffee is just as bad as the service or lack of .
**The DRAMA is free with every horrible cup!**
**STAY AWAY***

oh my gawd !!!!! hell is "sooooo" paved with good intentions. Buddha says peace must come from with inside a person to make a friendly cup of coffee. A true buddhist only speaks in peace. fat church people will eat entire rump roast and feel no shame. for shame on those thunder thighs ! Buddha bless you all.

Jody B.....i just want to say that you are doing a great job running your business. I always feel welcome in your bar and the service has been great with or without you tHERe. I don't know where some of the comments above come from, but those people obviously have some issues of their own. Keep up the great job! This community stays behind you and supports your business 100% percent. Lesbians are a tough crowd to please sometimes, but you do a great job and so does your staff. Thank you.

I have discovered tHERe a few months ago while on a business trip and i must say it has become one of my favorite coffee shop/bar. Coffee is great, martinis even better and the fact that they have house infused vodkas.....OHHH MY GOD!!!AMAZING!!!KEEP IT UP tHERe and keep the change coming!!

I remember when I walked into tHERe 2 years ago, a transplant from the Midwest... as I walked in Jody B. was working, and looked up at me and said, "You're not from around here are you?" She shook my hand and asked what she could get me. Jody was very personable then and still is. She knows her customers and welcomes in anyone new. People... listen up... it doesn't matter who you are or where you came from... it's a great place to go on a date, to hang out and catch up with friends, have a good chai or a fabulous drink. People of the GLBT community who bad mouth other people trying to create a space for our own... need to just go hang out at the closest hetro establishment and have a good time, just don't come tHERe and ruin my experience.

can I buy diet water at there?

Is it the kind of place where a lipstick, professional woman can go? Or is it more for butches? From the outside, it looks like it might attract street people?
