Metropolis coffee is located in the Prado building on 11th and Cherokee. It has an urban loft fee to it with high ceilings, exposed pipes, concrete floors, wood bookshelves & brightly colored walls.
From their website: "
Metropolis Coffee is an independently-owned, Denver-based coffee company specializing in small-batch coffee and espresso preparation method.
At Metropolis Coffee we take the time and care needed to make consistently fine coffee. We concentrate on quality, preparation, freshness and service. Our coffee, roasted by Seattle's Caffe Vita, speaks for itself.
Many coffee companies use a dark roasted espresso. We've chosen a lighter espresso, roasted to a deep mahogany brown to maximize the caramelized coffee sugars. The lighter espresso roast, a true Northern Italian tradition, along with our skilled espresso preparation methods, produces a flavor with tremendous depth and subtlety.
At Metropolis Coffee you'll enjoy our comfy loft-style atmosphere with lots of seating, great music, and friendly staff. You'll also find baked goods, delivered daily from Boulder's Spruce Confections, and donuts made fresh from Winchells. We even have free wireless Internet access for your laptop.

This is the best coffee in town. Period. I know, I've spent time in every other coffeeshop Denver has to offer. But it isn't only the coffee that makes Metropolis work -they also offer quick, free wi-fi, which is all fine and good. But what gives Metropolis its edge is the cast of locals that use this little coffeeshop as their own personal community center. As a writer, it's easy to gather character studies from the various folks who pass through this loft-like coffeeshop. A virtual casting director's dream that includes a close-cropped former college basketball star owner, the loud mouthed, pony-tailed opionate, the local hair-styling divas and the construction workers from across the street, the regulars at Metropolis make an hour here feel like being a part of a live broadcast of Cheers. Hang out for a few days and you'll become a regular cast member too - I have. I'm the smart mouthed writer who'll stare at you if you're sitting on the comfy couch in the corner when I come in - that's my butt dent in the cushion in case you didn't realize it when you took my seat. Hope to see you there one day - the coffee and the people are both delicious.
How good can a coffee shop that closes at 6:00pm be? How about a coffee shop in a new building? One with bland decor in the middle of trendy yuppie district? Surprisingly great. Let's get this out of the way: this is the best tasting coffee in Denver. As a die hard Pablo's patron, it hurts to say that, but it's dead true. I have no idea what they do right, but whatever it is they do it in spades. Filtered water? Quality beans? An Italian machine? It can't be that simple. Their shots are an inky black and almost criminally smooth. Don't think grounds and hot water, think mysterious thick liquor. Heck, they even give you a little spoon with your drink - a tiny luxury that seems gimmicky until you've had your first sip and realize a plastic stick would cheapen the whole experience. Toss in free wireless and a friendly staff, and you have something bordering on special. Now, if only Metropolis were a little more torn up, a little less power-commuter oriented, and lot more nocturnal....
I would like to support a locally owned shop, but this was a let down. The space is OK. The service was OK, even after I had her remake my cappucino (since there was no foam included in the first one).
Very nice spot. I found out about meditation classes there.

I don't really like this place. I love coffee and like other coffee shops. I just don't like their coffee. I also don't like the fact that they only accept cash. They do have a nice sitting area and I do like that they have wireless. It is not a bad place, I just prefer others over it.
Low fat donuts have finally been invented and they are damn good!

This is the best coffee experience I've ever had. I ordered a caramel macchiatto and it was pure heaven. I was in town visiting from NYC and this by far blew me away compared to the other cafes we have in NY.
How many people actually carry cash???? We got there, I ordered a drink, and then saw the sign that said "cash only". Needless to say, I only had $3 on me. We only ordered the one drink (which was not hot enough) and left to go to Scooter Joes. Time to invest in plastic.
attitude! the employees think they know everything just b/c the know how to make a good espresso drink...
