Steamers Coffeehouse in West Arvada. It's in a community called the Village of Five Parks, just east of Indiana off of 86th.
EDIT: After all of the posts below, I wanted to get in there and check it out for myself, so we stopped by on Saturday morning. The owners have created a very warm atmosphere
with cozy seating, a fireplace, nice lighting and local artwork on the walls. There are also books, board games, and free WiFi.
We ordered a hot chocolate (which was made from Ghiradelli sp? chocolate, NOT a mix, as the poster said below. Also had a latte, which was excellent, and ordered one of their sandwiches and a breakfast burrito, both of which were very good!).
The coffee is from Vail Mountain Coffee.
The coffeehouse itself is located in a newer neighborhood "town center." I think this is a great neighborhood spot.
Hours (as of 2/13, as posted by the owner):
Monday – Friday 6am – 6:30pm
Saturday – Sunday 8am – 2pm
Steamers will be open later during the summer hours when the sun stays out longer and the weather is warmer.

A little off the beat and path, but they have good lattes and the place is cozy with Wifi, couches and a fire place... feels like a family room. Nice spot to hang out.
What a cool place!! Has a very eccletic feel to it! Would feel very comfortable hanging out there drinking a latte and just relaxing! Absolutely FABULOUS chai if you're a chai lover!
Its about time people started talking about this place. it may be the best hidden coffe shop in Denver. The service is the best, drinks are out of this world and the food is great. Nice place just to go and hang out and relax.
steamers is truly one of Arvadas best kept secrets. It has a warm feeling with great baristas and killer lattes. It's a great place to hang out with friends or sit and do homework.
This is a great little coffee shop. The baristas are it's greatest asset-behind the espressos and lattes and breves-of course. The atmosphere is great, plus the sidewalk faces south. It's great on these sunny Colorado winter days. Check it out on your way to the mountains or the lake (Standley) or make it your destination. You will not be disappointed.
huge suprise and a wonderful find. Excellent customer service fresh coffee and muffins, pleasant atmosphere...just so impressed with the whole shop. not a very big place but makes up for it with a whole lot of heart.
This is a great coffee shop. It's definitely got the atmosphere: it's hip, cozy, friendly and fun. My favorite drinks are the mate latte and their root beer floats. Definitely the best I've ever had. A great place to hang out and read a book and spend time with friends in a welcoming neighborhood location.
Steamers has a friendly, comfortable, cozy atmosphere. By the second time I visited, they knew what my drink of choice was and remembered my name. This kind of service and attention to deatail will definately earn my repeat business.
Most Excellent!
Great place and very confortable. The coffee is high quality and the atmosphere is relaxing. It is a cool spot in suburbia.
What a pleasant surprise. This coffee shop is different then other well-known coffee shops. They offer a wide selection of loose-leaf teas, chai drinks and lattes. Pleasant atmosphere and friendly service.
The physical layout is very comfortable. I really enjoy the mellow music, lots of acoustic guitar sound. I must admit though that the food selection leaves me wanting. NO SCONES! What's that all about? I could be wrong but it looks like they serve Costco muffins and biscotti's. Not that there's anything wrong with Costco products, but I do expect a much higher quality prodcut at a coffeehouse that looks like that. Their burrito's are good but a bit small in size for such a high price.
I think the owners or employees maybe their parents are leaving all of these reviews. The place isn't that nice! Every time I have been there nothing, I mean nothing is happening. It is small, far away from anything and not that good of a hang out! Prices are high for the quanity you get. Beware! It is not a comfortable place and they are dishonest for posting all of these reviews
Oh, this truly is a lovely place to come and treat yourself. When I go in I struggle to decide if I want a latte, cup of hot tea or just a simple ice cream cone. It's just a nice place to go and enjoy yourself.
Oh please! I agree with the poster who suggested that these reviews are being planted. I visited to check it out to meet a friend who lives nearby. What self-respecting coffee shop has no scones, and makes hot chocolate from a MIX???
I was in with my friend, it was quiet but we were lucky enough to participate in a sample tasting. We had espresso & a banana nut bread. I liked the banana my friend the espresso. I hope they start carrying these soon. I'll definitely be back.
I am the owner of Steamers Coffeehouse. I have seen many comments above and thought I would provide some details about Steamers Coffeehouse directly. We are located in West Arvada, east of 86th avenue in a new home development called the Village of Five Parks. It is a great community to be located in and I have yet to have a bad customer. Our store is tucked away around the corner from the entrance to the retail center. We serve Coffee, Tea, Chai, Mate Chai, Hot Chocolate (made with Ghirardelli chocolate) and a limited food menu.
We proudly partner with Seasons Gourmet and Vail Mountain Coffee & Tea for most of our food, Coffee & Tea products.

- Cinnamon Bread
- Espresso Bread
- Green Chile and Cheese Quiche
- Assorted Muffins
- Cinnamon Rolls
- Chocolate covered espresso beans
Steamers Coffeehouse is a small store with a fireplace, couches, WIFI, board games and books. We are trying to do latte art by serving ½ price in house lattes Monday – Friday between 5-6 pm. We try to make Steamers feel like home.
We have our artwork provided by local artists, that can be purchased, and we have live music on occasion.
Hours:
Monday – Friday 6am – 6:30pm
Saturday – Sunday 8am – 2pm
Steamers will be open later during the summer hours when the sun stays out longer and the weather is warmer.
I appreciate all of the feedback provided. We continually look to improve as a coffeehouse through both positive and constructive feedback, so thank you for your comments.
Sincerely,
Steamers Coffeehouse
Don't know who has been adding all of these "fabulous" comments. I would disagree. Aside from a nice environment, the food is way to high priced for what you get - and not sure it's always fresh. Average joint.
Hmmmm. Why are all the comments ANONYMOUS? Your employee told me about this site and I'm glad they did. Have you noticed that most of the other coffee places have only 4 to 5 comments and your place has 17? I like the place, good latte's, not so good bakery products, but I do think you are planting the reviews. Too bad.
I agree, you must be planting favorable reviews. I've been a few times, and I must say I was VERY disappointed every time. The drinks left soooo much to be desired and the food, well, over priced and severly lacking are words that come to mind.
That place in olde town (La Dolce or something?) is a whole lot better. QUIT PLANTING REVIEWS!!!
I am the owner of Steamers Coffeehouse. While I see there are concerns about reviews being planted, this is not the case. As some have stated directly in their reviews, we provide the website to customers for them to have an anonymous path to provide feedback. While we welcome comments directly at the store, some do not feel comfortable doing that, so we provide an alternative path.
Thanks to those who have provided both positive and constructive comments.
Sincerely,
Steamers Coffeehouse
Visited Steamers several times and found Steamers customer service is top notch and the chai is excellent. Prices on food are a little high but the food is pretty good. Arvada is pretty much a dead spot for coffee shops but Steamers is a marked improvment over all other Arvada coffee Shops.
I live in Five Parks and I think Steamers is wonderful. They are GREAT with kids - always helping them decide on a new drink / taste treat, they are committed to quality service and products, and most of all they are family friendly and community oriented. The atmosphere is relaxed and the morning sun - even on a chilly day - is wonderful. Thanks for a great local coffee shop. You are much appreciated!
Dolce Vida on Olde Wadsworth is a great low key coffee option. Decent brew and ooutstanding pastries. It is still 70s funky and tasty and relaxed, with live folk music and a non-pretentious but friendly patrons of all ages. No pseudo-yups here, just real nice people.
Primo Vino, the wine shop across the street is outstanding. Next door to Primo is a great German gluten-free pastry at Rheinlander Bakery and groud Buffalo for $3.50 lb at Steve's Meat Market. Then walk down to Grandview for whole wheat Goat Cheese Pizza and live music at D-Note, excellent CO wines at the tasting room, and a world-class folk guitar shop.
Olde Town Arvada is not quite yet "discovered' but beats the hell out of Lodo and South Pearl if you like mellow 30-50 something singles and no hype!! Really nice condos nearby too at a fraction of the pop. places.
Plus, 5 Parks is a sterile burb. Olde Town has the real stuff. Sorry!
The first 20 comments are a sad reflection of desperate people in real estate. I bet the Five Parke area is having trouble selling homes with high gas prices. The real "gas" is in the blog, I see. Disgusting!
I love Steamers! I discovered it after visiting my mom, who recently moved to Five Parks. I love the quaint feel of this cofee shop. The employees are always very friendly and accomodating, and the drinks are delish!
I agree with a previous comment made by a five parks neighbor. I too, live in five parks which is a great family oriented neighborhood and with the town center it lends for a nice, close community type of "feel". Having a coffee shop such as steamers within walking distance from my house is in my opinion, great.
Good coffee. But not a good place to go when you want "thinking time" by yourself. I've tried that several times (I live in walking distance), and the counter help always ends up talking to a customer for 90 minutes, non-stop, loudly. It's a small room, so I don't go here anymore, because I don't feel like hearing someone else's conversation for 90 minutes when I was hoping for some "thinking time". Now I drive elsewhere, instead of walking here. But I guess if you want to go someplace where you can talk to someone, this is the place for you.
I have been to Steamers twice. Just discovered it a few months ago and sometimes swing in on runs up and back to Boulder. As it's been hot so I've only had their Iced Teas to date. far. I was very pleased as they were frest and strong. I detest powdered or watered down teas. Prices were not in the bargin range. Then again neither is Stabucks. The atmosphere was cozy and comfortable. I didn't stay but can say that no one attempted to talk my ear off either while I was there. Generally I was impressed and plan on keeping it in mind as a place to hang and chat with friends.
P.S. La Dolces posts are almost as numerous as these.
So many things have changed...
We are still a small coffee shop off the beaten path, but we are growing nicely under new owners (as of March 2007). In fact, we are moving next door to a larger corner spot by the end of October 2007 (so far we aren't expecting to be closed at all). One of the new focuses of the coffee shop has been employing developmentally disabled adults through a partner company Parker Personal Care Homes. We still greatly care about our local / usual costumers and strive to know each person we serve. We also do everything we can to work with other local / small businesses, we no longer carry 'Vail Mountain Coffee' and have switched to 'Coda' coffee, we strive to give each of our costumers a quality product, and we are not the typical throw it under the wand and hope it comes out good coffeehouse... we strive for great steamed milk and latte art. Many of the Baristas are respectable college students in the local community and enjoy working in such an eye opening environment. Our selection of food has grown considerably including French Bread / Bagel Pizzas and a wide assortment of Breakfast Sandwiches. With the move to a larger spot soon we are hoping to make fresh pastries (which was not available to us in the past given fire codes in the old location)... possibly including scones (I'll talk to the owner about this one for all of the scone lovers out there). The new place will also accommodate for those who wish for a quieter section. Still open and comfortable, but better for studying. We also still have free wifi (I'm posting from the shop now). I hope this re-sparks some interest and gives a somewhat objective insight to the growing Arvada coffeehouse.
Mile High Buzz . com ... please feel free to drop by the new shop location in November as we are hoping the transition will be complete and running strong. Our fall hours are M-F 6am – 8pm, Sat 7am – 8pm, and Sun 7am – 3pm. We strive to serve people... not just coffee. Thanks... Peace...
As a nearby resident, I had marveled at having a coffee shop located so close to home. I had been a loyal customer through several remodels of Steamers, and when the store located to the old Seasons Gourmet shop recently, I was thrilled. The larger space, expanded menu and cozy couches and atmosphere meant I would happily be spending a lot of time at Steamers for sure!
Unfortunately, on several recent visits to Steamers, I have been greeted with dirty tables and floors that appear to have not been cleaned in some time.
And, couches and tables are taken up not by customers, but by EMPLOYEES. Either they are sitting there on break (eating their lunch or whatever) - or they are sitting around because there aren't any customers. Or, employees will "mark their territory" by placing their lunchboxes, bages, etc. on the couches.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but shouldn't the seating be reserved for the paying customers? And if floors, tables, etc. are filthy, shouldn't the employees clean them up, rather than sit around taking up the seats that paying customers might want?
I hope these problems are corrected soon. While Steamers is a very convenient way for me to get my coffee shop fix, and does have a lot of potential, I am no longer going to tolerate having to compete with employees for a place to sit, nor will I enjoy my coffee amid filthy surroundings.
Until these problems are fixed, I will be taking my business elsewhere.
Thank you.
The previous poster (from 4/28) hit the nail right on the head. I, too, am (was!) a frequent Steamers customer. But wow, has it gone downhill. Sad, really, what with the upgrades and improvements to the space. But eclectic music, new paint, couches and free wifi mean nothing if I can't even get a seat due to employees taking "breaks" and sitting on the couches/at the tables, and assuming I CAN get a seat anywhere, the crumbs and filth don't do much for me.
So Steamers hires developmentally disabled people....great! Kudos! However, it doesn't matter if George Clooney or Albert Einstein is working there.....if the place is filthy and employees making messes while they eat at the tables/couches, instead of WORKING and CLEANING, then Starbucks, here I come! Yes, it's a longer drive, but at least I can find a place to sit. Their employees take their breaks in the back. And when they're not on break, they WORK. Novel concept, huh?
