Under the Umbrella is the latest reincarnation of a coffeeshop at this location. Hopefully this one will work out for longer than the previous two. This spot was previously Mr. Lucky's, and prior to that, A Flamingo and Two Chicks.
They have made some changes in decor and were refacing the front of the shop with a nice slate look when I visited. I'll have to come back to post more.
The new owner is a baker, so there are plenty of fresh, homemade treats on hand.As can be seen on the map, there is not as much of a concentration fo coffee shops in this immediate area, so hopefully this one sticks around.

We loved this place. We had the quiche and the chicken salad sandwich. The food was delicious! The atmosphere was relaxing and the owner, Jyll, rocks!
Now this is a true cafe! Sandwiches are HUGE and very reasonably priced with many side options. AND there was always something hot coming out of the oven- FRESH BAKED! I thought you'd have to go to Europe for a cafe like this. Lovely atmosphere and the employees are always friendly. My new favorite spot. This is Denver's best kept secret for sure!
We were there several times in August. The coffee was really good, and the pastries and sandwiches were absolutely great.

I tried the Lasagne and the lemon bars (which were really giant slabs!) and both were the best I've ever eaten! Jyll makes the best goodies...This place is cozy, relaxed and the food is delicious. I highly recommend it.
It was my first visit since it changed owners. OH MY GOD!! I have been missing out. The coffee and muffins were awesome. Very cool atmoshere.
Under the Umbrella has super friendly staff, a comfy atmosphere, and excellent food. Free WiFi and plenty of places to plug in. Not too crowded, and they also have out door tables. All in and all they do a good job.
The coffee is Pablo's and is just okay. I appreciate the effort their baristas put forth, but espresso drinks are not where they shine. Their regular house brew is pretty good, and they have a generous refill policy.
They have a good selection of sandwiches, baked goods, and good soup, which are all made there? They are more of a cafe, rather than a coffee house, which I appreciate because not enough places offer good food and baked goods. It's a great little neighborhood stop, and good balance between relaxed, local, and quality. I'd recommend it to anyone; unless your a coffee snob, go somewhere else.
We walk to this cafe several times a week and love the atmosphere, baked goods, sandwiches, music, the staff and the coffee. We hope it stays around for a long time. You guys are the best!
after test-driving dozens of coffee shops around town, i've settled on this one as my 'office away from office'. great atmosphere. even better baked goods. cool owner who bakes the muffins herself every morning. free coffee refills. what else do I need?
Just an update I've live near 11th and Columbine and have been frequenting them for a few months now. I used to visit Diedrich's before it became Daz Bog (and lost my business) and Java Creek is a bit far to walk.
It's a great friendly place, and Daily Scoop next door is a wonderful place for your ice cream fix.

I just love this coffee shop. I used to frequent many shops- depending what area of town I would be in. Now I actually leave early to make the trip to Umbrella.
The staff are awesome. I was welcomed immediately and have been since. Very accomidating and personable.
Everyday there are several new treats in the bakers case and it always smells wonderful from whatever is baking when I come in. The atmosphere is cozy and appealing. I have never had a problem getting on line- they have a zillion places around the shop to plug into.
Highly recommended.
I wish this place were better because it's so close to me. Staff are friendly and their coffee (Pablo's) isn't too bad, but it's never hot enough because it's not changed enough and is not on a burner. I tried one of their breakfast burritos and the eggs were dry and crumbly.. it was kind of gross, frankly. I want to like this place, but it needs to get its act together if it's going to compete with Dazbog down the street. Their coffee is much better... fresh and hot.

This place has really comfortable chairs, and is not cramped at all. I think this place has a lot of potential, but it just isn't there yet. I think the coffee shop's atmosphere is great but the community atmosphere is dragging them down...not enough exuberance and excitement.
