RECIPE: An old converted house + Funky decor + Friendly Barristas + Beat up wood floors + Mismatched furniture + Live acoustic music + A great outdoor patio + a fun and funky atmosphere + late night hours + free wifi = success at Common Grounds, Waco... teeming with crowds of students on this Wednesday night.

Common Grounds seems to have found a recipe for success with it's location right across the street from Baylor University's campus... They have a ton of 'specialty drinks' including the "hot cowboy coffee" which is a "secret recipe". At prices from $4.35 - $5.36 for large espresso based drinks, they must be putting something special in them, because the students continue to pour in at 11:00pm on a Wednesday night, with a line 20 deep just to get to the counter. It looks like they have live music more nights than not... and they have established themselves as a social destination for Baylor students.... as their tshirts say, they are working to "keep Waco Wacko".

you're spending quite a bit of time in TX. They've got some seriously overpriced coffee... i don't think Wacky Waco is enough to get me to pay that much for caffeine.
Also, I hear tell that Lambshoppe has their cafe up and running. I'll be visiting this weekend and let you know what I think.
At Common Grounds in Waco, you get more than just a coffee... you get an atmosphere perfect for so many things. It's a place to sit down and read a book, do some last minute studying, enjoy a band, meet some new people, chill with friends, or even hook up to the internet. People are always welcome at CG and the drinks are GREAT. You don't have to empty your wallet for a Caballero either. CG has some great straight up coffee. Their beans come in so many flavors and there will be about 5 flavors ready to drink at any time. You can get a cheap bottomless cup and for as long as you stay, you get free refills. CG is by far the best coffee shop I have ever been to. If I could bring it home with me, I would.
i have to say that, pricy or not, common grounds is the best coffee shop i have ever been to. you pay for the atmosphere more than the coffee....yet the coffee is the best i have ever had outside italy.
GREAT PLACE!!!
Me and my friends spend their some time while we studied at Baylor's last summer. It really is the best coffee house where I ever been to. They just don't have this here in Belgium!! If you ever are in the neighbourhood you really must visit it.
Common Grounds is pretty much the best place ever! The coffee is a little expensive, but it is so much better than Starbucks and their nice polished finish on everything. All the mismatched furniture rocks! :-)
