Cherry Creek's loss, Colfax's gain. Incredibly, staff and volunteers completed the move of over 125,000 books from the Cherry Creek location to the Colfax location in 24 hours! The Cherry Creek location closed at 6pm Saturday, with an opening on Colfax at 9am Monday.
I am assuming (hoping) they have carved out space for a nice coffee bar there, but I'll stop by soon to check it out. In the meantime, please add your comments below if you have been there already!

i hear they have as wide a selection as the cc store, but does it not seem smaller? either way, what their space may've lost in size has more than gained in style:

The barista and the drinks in the new coffee shop were great.
Having practically grown up in the Bonfils/Lowenstein theater, I think that the Tattered Cover folks have done a great job of creating their story but honoring the history of the building.
I miss the more "communal" feel of the Cherry Creek location. The new coffee bar is narrow with a bar of chairs facing the west wall, not really designed for conversation. There are a few tables scattered through the store, but rarely empty. The best "perch" is in one of the small tables next to the theatre seats that overlook the store. Coffee is excellent, and free WiFi.
I lived in Denver for 19 years...miss it terribly! I have spent many an hour in the Cherry Creek location reading books and looking at chicks...Usually over 50 years old (Damn mature women are GODDESSES). But I digress. I visited Denver for the Rocky Mountain Audio Festival, and spent a day visiting "some" of my old hunts. (Wow, most of them were coffee related, amazing!!!). So YES there is a coffee bar in the new location. Great service; educated, thoughtful and well versed in customer service. Each time I go to Denver, I ALWAYS stop at the Tattered Cover...Yes, I do buy books there too!
Truly, truly dissapointed. I had not been to the Tattered Cover in several years (I moved out of town), but when I was recently in Denver I stopped in.
It seemed the selection was poor (several of my favorite authors were no where to be seen) and while I like what they did with the space it just isn't the same.
The Tattered Cover used to be a place you planed a quick stop at and the next thing you knew three hours had passed. I don't think you could spend 3 hours in this new store. I was in and out in 45 minutes.
