Underground is proving to be a wonderful place to camp out and work while i'm trapped in Greenville SC due to an ice storm. As usual, I went out looking for the indie coffee joints and figured with a name like Coffee Underground, this place had to be cool, and I was not disappointed.
The coffeeshop is down the stairs from street level and has a full food menu (I have now had breakfast and lunch)... great coffee, friendly service (Thanks Sharlie!), and a neat atmosphere with exposed brick walls, wood shelves and warm colors. I'll definately be back when I take my next trip 
to Greenville!
There is another separate room down yet another set of stairs that serves as a theatre/gallery/music venue.
Very nice place with a unique and homey feel. I was glad to see it bustling, even on a day when most of the city seems to be shut down.

My wife and I eat and drink at Coffee Underground weekly. It is our Saturday morning bagel and hot chocolate place. We also have attended music and art events in the theatre/gallery/music venue. So we speak from experience when we say Coffee Underground in Greenville, SC is the best.

I live in Greenville and own a Greenville website with a feature about Coffee Underground. True, this is a great coffee cafe. They're expanding their space as of this writing (12/07) but it won't change the over all place, just more space added on. The food is great.
